I think that the reason why classrooms struggle with good classroom management is due to the lack of management strategies being implemented consistently. Being consistent is key as it helps build routine and structure to the day. With consistency, students are able to understand what is expected and what is not expected. They will also understand the consequences of their actions when they are not following the expectations.

To support my learning, I can lean on my coaching teacher for support to ask her some strategies that would be supportive to implement in September. Some resources I can access are books and blogs on classroom management.

During the school day, I will build multiple opportunities for learning throughout the day by reflecting on the management strategy used that day during the morning, during lessons and the afternoon activities. Looking at what evidence has been showing on what types of classroom management strategies have been affective.

Are there schools with a similar focus you can learn from?

I would say that Lax Kxeen Elementary practiced a lot of positive classroom management strategies in all the classrooms that I visited. In general, I think all the supporting staff are very great at reinforcing the expectations of the students throughout the day.

Who can you draw on for support? What resources can you access?

I can draw on my coaching teacher for support. Even the educational assistant as they are familiar with student behaviour and routine in the class. For resources, I could ask my coaching teach for support. I also have been following some teachers who post their strategies on their teaching blogs.
